Child Lost in Forest Found Sleeping Peacefully Under Glowing Cross-Shaped Tree

Asheville, North Carolina — A 6-year-old boy who went missing during a family camping trip was miraculously found unharmed two days later, asleep beneath a tree that rescuers described as “shaped like a glowing cross.”

Little Jacob Miller disappeared near Blue Ridge Mountains, prompting a full-scale search. As daylight faded on the second night, hope was thinning — until a search dog led rescuers up a steep path to a clearing.

“We saw him lying beneath this crooked old tree — its branches bent perfectly into a cross,” said park ranger Annabelle Ruiz. “And there was this… shimmer, like light clinging to the bark. It was like the tree was watching over him.”

Despite freezing temperatures and a history of bear sightings, Jacob was warm, calm, and completely uninjured. “Jesus stayed with me,” he told his mother. “He told me not to cry.”

A photo taken by one of the rangers shows the tree indeed forming a distinct cruciform shape, with sunlight illuminating it in a way that seems to radiate from the boy’s resting place. The image has gone viral across faith communities.

Doctors at Asheville Medical Center found Jacob’s vital signs stable and no signs of exposure. “He was safer out there than most kids in a living room,” one nurse joked.

Now, the site has become a place of prayer. Hikers leave crosses, rosaries, and handwritten messages thanking God for the boy’s return. Local clergy held a sunrise service there, calling the incident “a living parable of the Shepherd and His lost sheep.”

Jacob’s mother is overwhelmed. “I prayed like never before. And I know now… God heard me.”
