Buried Crucifix Found Glowing in Yard of Atheist Turned Believer

Toulouse, France — In a remarkable series of events that some are calling “divine irony,” a self-professed atheist claims to have found faith after unearthing a glowing crucifix buried beneath his backyard.

Pascal Moreau, a 42-year-old philosophy professor and outspoken critic of religion, had been renovating his old family property when workers dug up a metal box sealed with wax and rope. Inside lay a small iron crucifix, aged with time — and glowing faintly with no power source.

“At first, I thought it was radioactive,” Moreau joked. “But it felt warm. Not hot — just alive.”

Tests showed no traces of radiation or internal battery. The glow persisted even in complete darkness, baffling technicians who examined the artifact at a local lab. The crucifix was estimated to be at least 300 years old.

What followed was even more surprising. “I couldn’t sleep,” Pascal admitted. “I kept thinking about it. About Him.” Weeks later, he attended Mass for the first time in his life.

Friends report a dramatic shift in his demeanor — calmer, more contemplative. Pascal has since resigned from his university post and begun volunteering at a Catholic charity.

“I’ve spent years trying to bury God with arguments,” he said. “But it turns out, He was just buried beneath my feet — waiting.”

The crucifix is now mounted in a chapel window, where visitors line up to pray. Some say it still glows at night.
