Moore, Oklahoma — A devastating EF4 tornado tore through a residential block in Moore this week, flattening homes and scattering debris — yet one object was found untouched amidst the ruins: a Bible open to Psalm 91.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said rescue volunteer Linda Marsh. “Everything was gone — entire walls, roofs — but there it was, resting on a splintered dresser.”
The Bible belonged to 73-year-old Irene Collins, whose house was reduced to rubble. She had gone to stay with her daughter the night of the storm — something she says was a last-minute “nudge from the Holy Spirit.”
Photos of the undamaged Bible have since gone viral. Psalm 91 begins with the words: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
“It’s like God left His signature,” said Pastor Jordan White, who visited the site. “In the midst of chaos, His Word stood.”
Now, the Bible has been placed in a protective glass case inside Irene’s church. Visitors stop by daily to read the very page that withstood 150 mph winds.
“I lost my house,” Irene said with a smile. “But I gained unshakable faith.”
