Puebla, Mexico โ Sisters at a hillside orphanage are calling it a “miracle of comfort” after they discovered an empty crib surrounded by rose petals the morning after a night of prayer for abandoned babies.
Casa Luz de Esperanza, a Catholic-run orphanage, held a special vigil on Thursday night. The sisters had invited locals to pray for the unborn, the orphaned, and children who had been abandoned due to poverty or crisis. The small chapel overflowed with candlelight, and songs of intercession filled the halls past midnight.
One of the cribs in the nursery had remained unused for months โ reserved, as Sister Angela put it, “for the child we prayed would someday arrive.”
Around 3 a.m., one of the nuns checked the nursery to adjust the heating and noticed a faint fragrance โ roses, although no flowers were present. The crib, which had been empty and freshly cleaned earlier that day, now held scattered rose petals in perfect spirals, surrounding the blanket.
“We all gasped,” Sister Angela said. “There was no sign of anyone entering. The doors were locked. No windows were open. And no petals were anywhere else in the building.”
The petals were fresh, soft, and bore no markings or stem traces. The sisters gathered and prayed again, many weeping. For them, it was a sign of divine reassurance.
Word of the event quickly spread through the Puebla community. Within days, donations for baby supplies surged, and several families applied to foster or adopt.
“It was as if God was saying, ‘I see your prayers. I will send the children. Prepare the way,'” said Sister Angela.
The crib has since remained untouched, with the petals preserved in a glass case nearby. A sign above it now reads: Faith prepares the room before the blessing arrives.
