Lagos, Nigeria —
The congregation at Living Word Assembly will never forget the Sunday when worship turned into what many now call a miracle. As the choir sang, 79-year-old Maria Okonkwo collapsed in the front row. Panic erupted as members tried to revive her, but soon she lay still, with no pulse.
Witnesses say Pastor Emmanuel immediately called the church to prayer. Hundreds of voices lifted in desperate cries, filling the building with shouts of “Jesus, save her!” Minutes later, Maria suddenly inhaled sharply and sat up, astonishing everyone around her.
Doctors later confirmed that Maria’s heart had stopped for nearly four minutes. Yet she returned without brain damage or any lasting injury. When she regained her strength, she told the congregation that she had been in the presence of Jesus.
“He was clothed in light brighter than the sun,” she recalled, tears streaming down her cheeks. “He held out His hand and told me, ‘It is not your time. Go back and tell them I am still with them.’”
Her words electrified the church. In the weeks since, attendance has doubled, with many traveling from nearby towns to hear her testimony. Some have even reported personal healings after she prayed with them.
“This is resurrection power at work,” declared Pastor Emmanuel. “We saw death defeated before our very eyes.”
Doctors remain puzzled, unable to explain her sudden revival. For the faithful, however, no explanation is needed — only gratitude for a miracle that reaffirmed their belief in eternal life.
