Lost Biblical Scroll Found in Egyptian Desert Sheds Light on Early Christian Worship

Location: Sinai Desert, Egypt

A groundbreaking discovery has been made in the remote Sinai Desert, where archaeologists have uncovered a lost biblical scroll hidden in a 4th-century monastery. The scroll, written in Greek and Coptic, contains an early version of Psalms along with hymns believed to have been sung by early Christians.

The monastery, known as the Monastery of St. Catherine, is one of the oldest Christian sites in the world. The scroll was found in a hidden chamber beneath the monastery, preserved in near-perfect condition due to the dry climate of the desert. Scholars believe this manuscript could offer valuable insights into how early Christians worshiped and how the Psalms were used in liturgical settings.

“This is one of the most significant finds in Christian archaeology,” said Dr. Elias Mansour, a biblical scholar involved in the research. “The language and structure of the hymns suggest that they were used in early church services, possibly dating back to the time of the first Christian communities.”

The manuscript is now being carefully preserved and translated, with the hope that it will be displayed in a Christian heritage museum soon.
