Christian Refugees in Lebanon Build Community Through Shared Worship

Beirut, Lebanon — In the heart of Beirut, a remarkable story of faith and resilience is unfolding as a group of Christian refugees displaced by conflict in the Middle East has established a thriving worship community.

Meeting in a repurposed school building, this congregation has become a sanctuary for hundreds of families fleeing violence and persecution. The church offers daily prayer services, Sunday worship, and vital resources, including counseling and educational programs for children.

“For many of us, this church is more than a place of worship; it’s a lifeline,” said George Azar, a leader within the community. “Here, we find hope, support, and the strength to rebuild our lives.”

The congregation has partnered with international Christian charities to provide food, clothing, and shelter to new arrivals. Volunteers have also launched vocational training programs, helping refugees gain skills in fields such as carpentry, sewing, and computer literacy.

“This is faith in action,” said Father Elias Ibrahim, who oversees the church’s activities. “We are not just praying together; we are building a future together.”
