Mosul, Iraq — The Christian community in Mosul, Iraq, has endured unspeakable hardship over the past decade, but their faith has remained steadfast. In the heart of this war-ravaged city, a group of Christian refugees has achieved what many thought impossible: the reconstruction of their beloved church.
Destroyed during years of conflict, the church was once a beacon of hope for the local Christian population. Using salvaged materials and their collective labor, the community has rebuilt the church stone by stone, making it a symbol of resilience and unity.
“For us, rebuilding this church is not just about restoring a building—it’s about restoring our identity,” said Mariam Youssef, a volunteer who has lived in Mosul her entire life.
The reconstruction project has drawn support from international Christian organizations, which have provided funding and supplies. The rebuilt church now serves as a place of worship, a community center, and a shelter for displaced families.
