Vatican Hosts Historic Summit on Artificial Intelligence and Faith

Vatican City — The Vatican recently hosted a groundbreaking summit exploring the ethical and spiritual implications of artificial intelligence (AI). The event, titled “Faith in the Age of Machines,” brought together theologians, scientists, and tech leaders to discuss the intersection of faith and technology.

Speakers addressed topics such as the moral responsibilities of AI developers, the use of AI in religious education, and the potential risks of machine learning. Pope Francis delivered a message emphasizing the importance of ensuring that AI serves humanity rather than undermining it.

“Technology must respect human dignity and promote the common good,” the pontiff said. “It is our duty to guide its use with wisdom and compassion.”

The summit included live demonstrations of AI-powered tools for theological study, such as software that can analyze biblical texts in seconds. Discussions also touched on the possibility of using AI to enhance humanitarian efforts, such as disaster response and poverty alleviation.

The event concluded with the drafting of a declaration calling for international cooperation in regulating AI technologies to align with ethical principles.
