🛠️ A Rocky Development History

The KOTOR Remake was first announced in September 2021, with Aspyr Media leading the project under Embracer Group. However, by mid-2022, reports began to emerge that the game had suffered major setbacks—including the indefinite delay of its vertical slice and the departure of key staff.

Eventually, Embracer shifted the project to Saber Interactive, a move many hoped would get the development back on track.

In early 2024, Saber officially split from Embracer, but retained control of the KOTOR Remake. And now, in 2025, they’ve once again reassured fans that the project is not canceled.Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic' Remake Reportedly Revived - CNET
