After much anticipation, Rise of the Ronin has officially launched on Steam, bringing Team Ninja’s open-world samurai RPG to PC players for the first time. Previously released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, the game is now available with enhanced visuals, performance optimizations, and full keyboard and mouse support.
A Journey Through 19th-Century Japan
Rise of the Ronin is set in late 19th-century Japan during the Bakumatsu period, a time of great political and social upheaval. Players take on the role of a ronin (a masterless samurai) caught in the conflict between the Tokugawa Shogunate, pro-imperial factions, and Western forces. The game’s choice-driven narrative allows players to decide who to side with, who to fight, and how to shape Japan’s future.
