Residents of a small village near Assisi, Italy, witnessed a glowing cross form in the sky as a thunderstorm rolled over the hills. The phenomenon lasted nearly ten minutes and was captured in dozens of photographs and videos. Locals gathered at the village church, singing hymns and lighting candles.
Though meteorologists suggest it could have been a rare lightning pattern, believers see it as a divine sign of protection. The local bishop has declared it a “moment for prayer and unity” and announced a public Mass of gratitude next Sunday.
