A church choir in Lagos was mid-rehearsal when the singers began harmonizing in what linguists have now confirmed are ancient Semitic phrases, some matching fragments of extinct Aramaic dialects.
None of the choir members speak Aramaic. When asked, they said they felt “overcome” by a deep emotion and followed the melody “like it was given from above.” The event is being reviewed by biblical language scholars.
