At the Global Summit on Faith and Climate, Christian leaders from over 40 nations issued a joint declaration urging believers to take responsibility for caring for the Earth. Citing Genesis 2:15, they emphasized that creation care is a biblical mandate.
The summit unveiled the “Green Church Movement,” encouraging local congregations to reduce carbon footprints, install solar panels, plant trees, and host eco-Bible studies. Pope Francis, in a recorded address, said, “To harm the Earth is to sin against future generations.”
Evangelical, Catholic, Orthodox, and Pentecostal representatives agreed that environmental stewardship should be central to Christian mission, not just a political concern. Churches in Brazil, the Philippines, and Germany have already begun implementing the recommended changes.
