While restoring a collapsed cellar under an old abbey, workers discovered a leather-wrapped Bible buried in a sealed clay jar. Despite being underground for three centuries, the pages were completely preserved, legible, and dry.
Historians believe it may have been hidden during the Protestant Reformation. The monastery has opened a small museum around the find, and the Bible is being called “The Whispering Testament” due to stories of visitors claiming to hear faint prayers while viewing it.
