Bali, Indonesia — In an unprecedented gathering, religious leaders from around the world convened in Bali to address one of humanity’s greatest challenges: climate change. The event, titled “Sacred Earth Summit,” concluded with the signing of the “Sacred Earth Pact,” a landmark agreement committing faith communities to active environmental stewardship.
The pact includes pledges to adopt renewable energy in places of worship, organize reforestation projects, and educate congregations about sustainable living. Signatories represented a diverse array of faiths, including Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Indigenous spiritual traditions.
“The earth is a sacred gift, and protecting it is a moral and spiritual duty,” said Imam Faisal Rahman, one of the summit’s key speakers. The event also featured interfaith prayers, traditional dances, and workshops on ecological preservation.
The pact has already inspired local initiatives, with faith leaders in Bali launching a campaign to plant one million trees across deforested regions.
